Harvard Eye Associates is world-renowned multi specialty ophthalmology practice with two Orange County locations in Laguna Hills and San Clemente. We are known for staying on the forefront of technological and surgical advances, with the sole purpose of providing our patients the care and attention they deserve, all aimed at achieving the best possible vision and overall eye health. With a combined experience of over 100 years and over 100,000 surgical procedures— the eye doctors at Harvard Eye Associates have treated virtually every known eye condition there is, plus a few previously unknown. Harvard Eye Associates' entire focus is on compassionate and comprehensive medical, surgical and optical care. With over three decades of serving Orange County, California, we take great pride in being the area's top eye care provider.
At Harvard Eye Associates, we are a comprehensive multi specialty practice. This means we offer most specialties in one practice, without having to refer patients out for treatment. This makes going to the eye doctor a convenient experience for our patients.
• Cataract Removal
• Laser Vision Correction
• Dry Eye
• Diabetic Eye Disease
Our Orange County cataract surgeons offer innovative laser-assisted cataract removal. This breakthrough in technology has made cataract removal more precise, more predictable and better than ever before. Using a laser to perform several of the most important surgical steps during cataract removal allows surgeons to perform the procedure with computerized, pinpoint precision, resulting in better and more predictable outcomes and making an already safe surgery even safer! Our Laguna Hills and San Clemente surgeons also offer the latest in lens implant technology. Premium lens implant technology often allows patients to have little to no dependency on reading glasses or bifocals after cataract removal, allowing Harvard Eye Associates to treat cataract surgery like a refractive procedure in addition to a medically necessary procedure. For patients who choose premium lens implants, the goal is to help you see well after your surgery without glasses or contacts, and our experience can help you get there.
Glaucoma is the leading cause of preventable blindness in the United States. This is regrettable, especially since glaucoma is often times easily managed with early detection and routine screenings. At Harvard Eye Associates, we are fighting the glaucoma epidemic by raising awareness and offering multiple treatment options in Orange County. Glaucoma can affect people as early as 40 (especially for those of Inuit or African ancestry), so we recommend that people begin having screenings around the age of 50, and perhaps earlier if you have a family history or certain risk factors. For those diagnosed with glaucoma, we can also offer many treatment options at our Laguna Hills eye care office or our San Clemente eye care clinic. A regimen of eye drops, a brief laser treatment, or sometimes surgery can all help reduce intraocular pressure and prevent loss of vision.
Pterygium is a rare condition in which the sclera (the white part of the eye) begins to grow abnormally towards the iris and pupil. Here in sunny Southern California, pterygia are a bit more common because of our climate, since it is believed that dust and dryness do increase the likelihood of pterygium occurrence. The growth itself is benign (non-cancerous), but can be unsightly and cause redness and discomfort. If you have a pterygium in Orange County, you're in luck — Harvard Eye Associates helped write the book (literally) on modern pterygium removal techniques. There was a time, fairly recently, when eye surgeons suggested that pterygium removal was not an option. However, using conjunctival autografts, amniotic membrane transplantation, and using more substantive surgical techniques (e.g. addressing the Tenon's fascia), recurrence of pterygium at Harvard Eye Associates is lower than one percent. Compare this to recurrence rates of up to 50% in past years.
